We get it—some days you lose control of your chill: Road construction makes your car clanky, interrupted sleep makes you cranky, and in-law drama makes you crazy. No matter what is challenging your chill, fight back with calm-me-down aromas.

If you’ve been frantically searching “Can I use essential oils for relaxation?” you’re probably in need of some mellower vibes. These seven oils will have you bragging about your big chill in no time!

Lavender essential oil

1. Lavender essential oil

We know it’s obvious, but we’re saying it anyway: Lavender is the king of chill! As one of your (and our!) favorite oils, the mellow and subtle scent of Lavender is an unequivocal pick for relaxation. Keep a bottle at home, in the car, at work, and in your bag so it can accompany you on your quest for chill every day!

Our favorite way to relax with Lavender: Roll with it!

Don’t worry about transferring Lavender oil to a roller bottle, simply replace the cap with an AromaGlide® Roller Fitment and you’re ready to swipe! But unlike swiping on social media, which might ramp up your stress, swiping on Lavender brings on only the chill vibes.

2. Copaiba essential oil

Your one-stop chill shop, Copaiba essential oil is full of really relaxing benefits. Its balmy scent makes you feel as zen as cooling down with shavasana, and using it topically helps ban blemishes—yet another way to keep from losing your cool. Try it with other gentle scents like Lavender and Ylang Ylang to compound its effects.

Our favorite way to relax with Copaiba: Rub it in!

When you find yourself pacing with your shoulders hiked up to your ears, it’s time for a relaxing massage! Add Copaiba oil to V-6™ and rub it into your shoulders, back, and feet. This calming oil will have you feeling chill for real in no time.

Geranium essential oil uses | Young Living

3. Geranium essential oil

It’s hard to feel frazzled when you stop to smell the flowers! Geranium has a sweet, heady scent that is balancing, peaceful, and calming all at once. Just add a few drops to your diffuser to find your new life motto: Life is coming up roses Geranium!

Our favorite way to relax with Geranium: Spray away!

Make home your haven! Combine 1 cup of water and 10 drops of Geranium in a spray bottle and spritz anywhere you need an escape—your bedroom, couch, pillows, and blankets. You won’t be able to resists the cozy comfort Geranium’s scent brings.

4. Vetiver essential oil

We love chilling out before heading to bed as much as anyone. Enter Vetiver! With an herbaceous aroma that promotes down-to-earth vibes, Vetiver encourages calm in kiddos, teenagers, parents, and grandparents alike.

Our favorite way to relax with Vetiver: Sleep on it!

Arguments, long days, and a thousand things gone wrong keeping you up? What you need to find your chill is a good night’s rest! Place 2 drops of Vetiver oil onto a tissue, stash it inside your pillowcase, and breathe in the relaxing aroma as you head to dreamland!

Ylang Ylang essential oil uses | Young Living

5. Ylang Ylang essential oil

Did you lose your chill because you’re feeling off-kilter? Restore your confidence and get your chill back with Ylang Ylang. A floral, decadent, and nurturing scent, Ylang Ylang is the wonder worker for times you need to decompress and ditch that stress!

Our favorite way to relax with Ylang Ylang: Soak it up!

Life won’t seem too chaotic when a bath is on the agenda! Fill your tub up with steamy water, add in ½ cup of Epsom salts and 5-8 drops of Ylang Ylang and wash your troubles away. When your schedule has back-to-back chaos, soak your feet instead.

6. Frankincense essential oil

If life gets crazy, chill the Frankincense out! Popular in mediation, yoga, and prayer practices, Frankincense’s woodsy aroma will have you feeling calm, collected, and centered. So roll your yoga mat out, turn on some chillaxing tunes, and use Frankincense to keep calm and carry on!

Our favorite way to relax with Frankincense: Wear it out!

When you’re in desperate need of the calming effects of essential oils, it’s a bummer when you can’t stay home and park yourself next to the diffuser. Dab a bit on your wrists before leaving the house so you can rely on the sweet aroma of Frankincense to ground you.

Orange essential oil

7. Orange essential oil

Maybe you’re feeling out of sorts because your house is a mess, you’ve got high-pressure projects coming up, or your skin is acting up. Time for some Orange essential oil! This zesty oil purifies the air, gives you a hopeful outlook, and evicts blemishes.

Our favorite way to relax with Orange: Breathe in, breathe out!

The brightest of aromas, Orange is a no-brainer when it comes to diffusing. Add a few drops to your diffuser for a sweet scent that’s as infectious as a giggle fit. Mix with Lavender, Frankincense, or Geranium for even more chill power!
